We encounter our most Recognizable Rollers of Swells at a small shopping mall outside of Cleveland. Bradlee Nelson and Bowie Abrams are dressed in their wrestling gear, hamming it up for the crowd.
Bradlee: BRO! THIS IS SO AWESOME!
Bowie: Dude I know, this is totally amaze-sauce.
Bradlee: Bro, these people are wearing OUR t-shirts… Dude look! That little-bro even has one of our foam surf boards!
Bowie and Bradlee run up to the LittleBro, their smiles completely infectious. The ninety or so people swarm around them and take an awesome looking photo for the little Bro. Bowie signs the surfboard and the kid beams, looking at Bradlee.
LittleBro: I can’t believe you’re gonna face Vito! It was so awesome watching you win! Dude, can I please have your autograph?
Bradlee’s eyes well up for a second, shocked at the little-bro asking for his autograph. He smiles his biggest smile and signs his name ‘Bradlee – BRO!’. He thanks the little-bro and turns towards Bowie but finds himself and Bowie surrounded by fans. Our most lovable fun-loving waveriders are elated. A blonde and a brunette pull Bradlee in for a selfie; they kiss the tubular one on the cheek as they take the picture. Bradlee blushes but is still grinning from ear to ear.
Crowd: Bros! Bros!
Bradlee and Bowie make eye contact for a second and push their way to the front of the crowd that has now swelled due to the commotion. They jump up on the table and strike multiple surfing poses as the fans explode in cheers as we fade out.
—————–
Our Most Excellent Excellers of Waves are tucked tightly into bed. Bowie’s side of the room is covered in surfing, wrestling, and some Grateful Dead posters. Bradlee’s side of the room is floor-to-ceiling, the most stunning babes in existence… at least that’s why he put them on the wall. The lights are out and Bradlee is staring intently at the cosmos on the ceiling once again. He whispers/yells to Bowie across the room.
Bradlee: Bowie… Bowie… you up dude?
Bowie: Yeah bro… I can’t sleep… I’m like electrified…
Bradlee: Bro I totally feel the same way! I’m all tingly! It’s like rubbing my feet across the carpet and shocking someone but like multiplicationed by a zillion!
Bowie: Dude I know… It’s incredible…
Bradlee: Is this the best two weeks of our lives dude?
Bowie: Well there was that two weeks back in Pokie when we had prom and we got to go on dates with the Gessler twins…
Bradlee: Yeah that was pretty rad…
The smoke coming out of the Bro’s ears is almost visible in the light of Bradlee’s magenta ‘Metro’ nightlight.
Bradlee: But dude… we had, like, people chant for us twice in two weeks… We got to do a contract signing in the middle of the Classic ring for the Real World’s Championship! WITH VITO!
Bowie: Dude that was so awesome… and Thunderbird was there…
Bradlee: Bro I got to hug Thunderbird, and he said something nice about me. Vito autographed my foam finger…
Bowie: And he gave us those METRO tokens… I dunno like what we can do with those but they are totally awesome.
Bradlee: Bro, we should have totally brought Vito a gift… man, we messed up.
Bowie: Dude it’s Vito, like I know he’s our best friend and stuff but like, you know, he’s a big time singles wrestler.
Bradlee: Brosef, you beat that entertainer guy who isn’t very entertaining… I mean we’re kinda becoming big time singles wrestlers ourselves.
Bowie: I know man… like we’re becoming stars or something.
Bradlee reminisces about the day some more in his head, replaying each fan interaction in his head. Bradlee sits straight up in bed, looking mortified.
Bradlee: Bowie, I’m scared…
Bowie: What’s up dude?
Bradlee: What if I end up in the Metro Avenue Deathlock and I lose… and then like… the fans like Vito better than us… and then like we go off and become old and bitter about this moment… what if this is our only chance at stardom… what if this is the only chance we ever get to make something of ourselves… Dude, this could be our ‘what if’ moment that we tell future JuniorBro’s about…
Bowie: Take a breath, dude…
Bradlee: I’m trying…
Bowie: Remember what Broeanu said, bro…
Bradlee: You’re right, bro… Just be myself and it’ll be alright…
Bowie: Exactly, dude. I believe in you.
Bradlee: Thanks Bowie, I really needed that.
