Leon Van Zandt vs Derek Miracle

February 16, 2022 by mikey

Moss: Welcome back to ringside folks, up next we got a matchup between a Classic veteran and relative newcomer!

Howley: That’s right Moss, time to put up or shut up for our newbie here!

Moss: He had an impressive win last week over “Hardbody” Henry!

Robbins: The following match is scheduled for one fall with a 15 minute time limit! Introducing first, Hailing from Ghent, Germany… he weighs in at 235 pounds…Being accompanied to the ring by Eddie Dante and Mushigahara… this is LEON VAN ZANDT!

The crowd boos as Van Zandt doesn’t even bother posturing. He cracks his neck and warms up instead.

Robbins: And his opponent, Hailing from New Orleans, Louisiana…weighing in at 265 pounds…DEREK MIRACLE!

Miracle flexes towards a group of ladies in the crowd who belt out with appreciation. Other fans cheer for the all around good guy.

From behind Leon Van Zandt attacks Miracle with an ax handle smash across the back. Derek stumbles into the corner and holds the ropes for balance but the onslaught from the German competitor continues. Lefts and rights to the midsection and kidney areas hit repeatedly. Official Kevin Clady calls for the bell before getting between the two to break up the attack against the turnbuckle.

Moss: This match is officially underway, and Van Zandt wasn’t waiting for the bell.

Howley: He’s the smaller wrestler by about thirty or forty pounds, he’s got to find and advantage, and blindsiding a guy is certainly that!

Van Zandt backs up only because he has to. Miracle now focused, comes out of the corner and locks up with Van Zandt and quickly pushes him across the ring with brute strength. He flexes hard at LVZ and the crowd reacts with applause. Unamused the grappler gets back up and locks up again. This time he tries to take the body builder down with an armdrag, but Miracle keeps his balance and then deadlifts LVZ into the air and slams him down hard. The crowd claps loudly, clearly impressed with the strength of Classic Wrestlings newest hire.

Howley: I still say I could take this guy one on one! I don’t care if it’s arm wrestling, I don’t care if it’s bench press. Heck, I’ll pull a bus with my teeth!

Moss: I think Double Decker might have something to say about that! Back to the match, Miracle now has control of the former Tag Team Champion.

He lifts LVZ up over his head for a bench press slam, but the Classic veteran is able to rake the face of his challenger. Falling to his feet, and ignoring the calls of Kevin Clady, he grabs Miracle by his extremely broad shoulders and drops him backwards onto his own knee for an odd backbreaker.

Howley: Ugly but effective!

With his opponent on the ground and Eddie Dante barking at him from behind LVZ is able to jump on Derek Miracle and apply his patented Sugar Hold. The big man writhes on the ground and tries to reach the ropes with his legs, but the grappler pulls him back to the center of the ring and applies it even tighter.

Moss: The Sugar Hold is locked in, but the body builder is not giving up. The fans are behind him!

Howley: Yea but unless the fans are going to break the hold, I don’t know how he’s going to get out of…

Miracle is forced to submit and the bell rings before Howley can finish.

“New World Symphony, 4th Movement” by Antonin Dvorak hits in the studio and LVZ is greeted warmly by Eddie Dante. Mushigahara stands ominously, emotionless as the victor holds his arms up in celebration.

Robbins: Here is your winner by submission… LEON VAN ZANDT!

Howley: I like Derek Miracle’s odds for making it here in Classic Wrestling, but he’s got to be weary when going in there with a high class wrestler like Leon Van Zandt… One trip up and he can catch you in a move like that and bye bye it’s over!

Moss: Indeed, Eddie Dante will certainly be excited to pick up the win here tonight.
